Finally made it!
According to my little GPS
tracker, my total journey time
was 6 hours 10 minutes.
The maximum altitude reachd
was 528 ft (161 m) and the
cumulative ascent (all the ups
added together leaving out the
downs in between) was 4,048
ft (1234 m).
Following the path down to Peveril Point at the western end of
Swanage, I was struck by all the wild flowers growing on the
side of the cliff. As I was walking over to the cliff to photograph
the flowers, I noticed a fellow in a white T-shirt walking up the
hill in my direction intent on what looked like a mobile phone.
Imagine my
astonishment
when the
apparent
stranger
embraced me
and uttered the
words “Hello
dad!”.
It was my eldest
son, Christopher,
who had decided
to come down to
Swanage and
surprise me.
Well surprise me
he did, although
it was a really
nice surprise.
Thank you,
Chris.
And so, after a lengthy
walk on a beautiful
late spring day along a
staggering lovely
section of the Jurassic
Coast, I arrived at
Swanage.
Here’s a final photo
with Beryl and sister-
in-law, Ann.
Then it was off for a
well-deserved pint and
a nice steak!
One more, a really big
thank you to all my
sponsors.
